My heart goes out to him. What a terrible experience for a divorced father to go through when trying to maintain a relationship with his children.

Your guy needs a lawyer. ASAP.

The lawyer will need evidence of an assault: third party eyewitnesses, video and voice recording, physical evidence reported to hospital, police reports. Without evidence, the lawyer has nothing and can do nothing.

A competent family lawyer will be concerned that they don't press charges against you or complain to children's services about you. Women are rarely penalized for lying in court.

The lawyer might want to get you into court immediately to establish a visitation schedule and a payment schedule.

The lawyer may advise you that any conflict, no matter who is at fault, can work against a divorced father. A judge can choose to resolve all conflict by eliminating the father from the lives of the children.

Immediately do everything to reduce conflict. Reduce communication with the ex to essential information about the children. There is usually no reason to speak on the doorstep in front of the children. Communicate in writing by email. There is no reason to speak to her boyfriend.

Your lawyer might recommend that pick ups and drop offs take place at a third location such as a police station or children's services office.

The judges are most concerned about two things: that women and children do not get assaulted or killed and that women get paid.

Your guy's entire conduct and communication should be designed to remove any concern about these two issues from a judge's mind.
