I agree. Regardless of intent, those not properly credentialed ought not to be utilising the tools of psychotherapy. Irreparable harm has been done in the name of good intentions.

Though I rarely, if ever, watch Oprah, I was impressed with her show on battered husbands earlier this year. I respect that fact that she is, at least, attempting to interject some balance into the argument on family violence. I increasingly notice more media attention to violence by women. (today's TO Sun has three articles pertaining to same)

I remain cautiously optimistic that in our lifetime we may witness the understanding of violence as a human phenomena, rather than a gender one.
