I am also in the middle of a custody case that involves an assessment. The assessment in my case has been ordered by the Child Lawyer which was appointed by a motion put forth by my Lawyer. Do not speak to any psychologist, unless it is ordered by the court. My advice to you would be to go ahead and file a motion for joint custody and be the best parent on the planet. Do not get dragged into confrontations or let yourself loose your cool. The court will look for any reason to deny you custody or access. Don't give them a reason. Do your homework! Learn as much as possible about Family Law and seek the advice of competant legal council. Be willing to risk it all for your child, because that may be what it takes. Remember you are not fighting for your right to be with the child. You are fighting for the childs right to an equal relationship with both parents. This is a long road. Do not travel it if you are not sincere about fighting for your childs rights. Good Luck!!!!!
